Amanda Stickel 2nd blog ever/ 1st after race report USA 50k National Chamiponships

Well here are just a few things about the race I'll probably have more later. Well before the race on Facebook I had talked to Kami Semick and she had just planned to run in the 3:40's and siad we'll probably be running together. So having no idea what she looked like I thought she was one of the ladies behind me running right on 3:40 pace I was going a little faster at the beginning. Tom Vincent Hello from Tokyo

Hi everyone. I just joined so I thought I'd write to introduce myself. It's nice to find a group of ultramarathon runners on here on ning. I'm not a runner myself, but I'm working on the support team for KANPEI Earth Marathon, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can about long-distance running - maybe you can all help! Kanpei is a 59 yr old Japanese comedian and ultramarathon runner, who set off last year to run and sail around the world. He's currently stuck in bad weather in the middle of the… Continue

I am scared to death we have our goals set and for some reason I am scared that they might be to high and I won't meet them. It is mine, my Dad's and my 2 uncles expectations that I can run in the 3:40'… Continue

Rebecca Broedel Rocky Raccoon 2009 Race Report

A year ago, I had never even heard of an ultramarathon. While deployed to Iraq, a friend of mine introduced me to the idea and I thought he was nuts. Well, to be honest, from the moment I heard about it, I knew it was something I had to do! It really wasn't an option, it just had to be done. Fortunately, I was going to be in Iraq for a while so I had plenty of time to train. My unit returned to San Antonio on December 9, 2008 and I knew Rocky Raccoon was just 2 short months away. Because of the… Continue
