Hi everyone. I just joined so I thought I'd write to introduce myself. It's nice to find a group of ultramarathon runners on here on ning. I'm not a runner myself, but I'm working on the support team for KANPEI Earth Marathon, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can about long-distance running - maybe you can all help!
Kanpei is a 59 yr old Japanese comedian and ultramarathon runner, who set off last year to run and sail around the world. He's currently stuck in bad weather in the middle of the Pacific, on a yacht about 1000 km from LA, but he should arrive in the US in a couple of weeks (hopefully), and then he'll start running to Chicago, and then New York. We have a ning too, if anyone's interested in following his progress - there are movies, (they'll be daily once he starts running in the US) And he's going to start a Run With Kanpei project too so people can join him for a short stretch of the way.
